Training

We're now back at Manor Road, every Wednesday, until the spring and will be staying on tarmac. Routes for 14/11/18 (The Manchester): 6.2 miles, 5 miles and 4 miles.

We also offer 'structured' sessions on a Tuesday at Victoria Park (War Memorial, 7pm) where our coach supervises hill and interval training. These sessions are aimed at any member who wants to improve their running (irrespective of current speed).

Launde XC

A beautiful day, if a little chilly, for the first fixture of the 2018-19 season. We were treated to a new course and, despite the absence of mud, it was a real tester. At least the frequent hills provided good views of the beautiful East Leicestershire countryside! Our nine ladies were led in by Aruna and the eleven gents by Mark. Results.

Beginners and Improvers

Our 10 week beginner group began on Wednesday 3rd October at 6.15pm. Our improver group (Wednesdays 7pm, Manor Road), aimed at at people who've run their first 5K and want to move their running on, remains open. If you think this might be for you, please contact Alison (Beginner Running Coordinator).

Carl Rutt 10K

This is one of the toughest road races in the county but we had lots of really good runs. Mark and Jackie led the teams and Richard came out to show the youngsters how it's done. Charly, Debra and Andy all ran well on debut, with Andy joining Cath, George and Brhane in setting a PB. Results via LRAN

Joy Cann 5

The weather was kind and there were some great runs. Mark managed to turn the tables on the 'Gurminator', Ian A made his debut and Brhane started to show his potential. There were PBs for Andrew, Harry, Stevie and Leah, plus prizes for Steve Palmer (1st V65), Jackie (2nd V50) and Dave L (2nd V55). Draft results are on the JC5 webpage.

Club Handicap

Congratulations to Aruna and Andy who landed the trophies in the annual club 10K handicap race at Illston. Andy was first back, with George, Prab and Brhane hot on his heels (all four beating their handicaps). Last years winner, Hilary, and Alison took the minor placings for the ladies. Full results.

Prestwold 10K

It was warm, but conditions were much more favourable than usual. We had three runners making their league debuts: Tom, Hilary Br and Brhane. The 'Gurminator' shaving a bit more off his PB, James T breaking the 40-minute barrier and Aruna setting yet another PB were among the other highlights. Provisional results are available via Barrow Runners website.

Swithland

Runners

We had the usual warm sunshine for Swithland and 23 members turned out to enjoy it. Nathan and Matt both had great debuts for the club and there were plenty of Silver and Bronze standards. Aruna, Leah, Jeannette, Andrew, Gurmit and Harry all set new PBs. Results (via Birstall RC). Picture credit: Cliff Fung.

Bosworth HM

Harry

That moment when you look at your watch and realise you've smashed all of your targets! It felt a little warmer than forecast but it was still a good morning for running. Harry was not the only one to enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done. Cath and Jade had their first races for the club and Gurmit, James T, Leah and Stevie all got PBs.  Photo credit: Nick Smith.

Desford 5

It was a perfect morning for running and there were lots of smiling faces as the spring weather finally put in an appearance. Charlotte led the ladies home with a Gold Standard performance and Janet backed her with a new PB. For the men, Gurmit came close to his PB, Sam J broke his, Igor was rapid and Sam C had his best race to date. Draft results (via LRAN).
