We meet at 6.55pm for a 7.00pm start. New runners are welcome to run with us at any of these sessions. We are happy for you to train with us while you make up your mind about joining - there's no obligation, no time limit and no pressure. Our training runs are usually between 6 and 7 miles, but there will be a 4 mile option available if you are working your way up to that sort of distance. Unlike some larger clubs, we don't have formal pace groups. Everyone starts together and after a bit of a chat the faster runners up the pace and we settle into smaller groups. Who you run with depends on how much you want to push yourself! Whilst we like to keep things informal, we will always make sure that beginners have someone to run with. We are currently training from Manor Road, every Wednesday but the summer schedule, which includes country runs, starts on March 31st. At Manor Road we have use of the University changing and showering facilities. After training, some members like to have a quick drink in The Cow & Plough (on Gartree Road) but this is entirely optional. In addition to the Wednesday sessions, a small group of Roadhoggs meet most Mondays (except Bank Holidays) at St Andrews Football Club, Aylestone Pastures (7.30pm) and anyone is welcome to join them. The range of paces is a bit more limited on Mondays, so it's best to make contact first.
Here are a selection of our Winter training runs, featured on The Good Run Guide website. |
